Rainbow Snow Cones

A Fun Winter Sensory Activity for Kids!

Winter is the perfect time to engage your little ones in creative and sensory-rich activities. My boys (2 & 4) love bringing the snow inside and their favorite activity is making Rainbow Snow Cones, you can check out my Instagram reel here

What You'll Need:

  • Fresh, clean snow

  • Food coloring in various shades

  • Squeeze bottles or droppers

  • Paper cones or cups - I used these sand ice cream toys!

  • Optional: sprinkles

Steps:

  1. Collect Snow: Gather clean snow from your backyard or during a family outing.

  2. Prepare Colors: Mix a few drops of food coloring with water in squeeze bottles or droppers.

  3. Shape the Cones: Fill paper cones or cups with snow, packing it gently.

  4. Add Colors: Let your kids drizzle the colored water over the snow, creating vibrant patterns.

  5. Optional – Add Sprinkles: Just for fun! Note - we do not eat these, they’re pretend play snow cones!

Benefits:

  • Sensory Exploration: This activity stimulates the senses, enhancing tactile and visual experiences.

  • Creativity Boost: Children can experiment with color combinations and designs.

  • Outdoor Fun: Encourages kids to enjoy the winter weather in a new and exciting way.
